Happy 167th Founder’s Day, Alpha Delta Pi! We celebrate your organization today for so many years of sisterhood & tradition! With over 220,000 initiated members in more than 160 chapters across the United States & Canada you are one incredible & rooted organization!
Alpha Delta Pi was founded on May 15, 1851, at Georgia Female College (now better known as Wesleyan Female College) in Macon, Georgia. Their six founders include: Eugenia Tucker Fitzgerald, Elizabeth Williams Mitchell, Sophronia Woodruff Dews, Octavia Andrew Rush, Mary Evans Glass, and Ella Pierce Turner.
ADPi’s special symbols include: the woodland violet for their flower, a diamond as their official jewel, and a lion as their mascot. Their colors are azure & white and their official open motto is: “We Live For Each Other”. Ronald McDonald House Charities is their official philanthropy and since their partnership began in 1979 they have raised over $12,680,000 (WHOA!!!!) which is absolutely amazing! Another fun fact is that the beautiful singer from Little Big Town, Karen Fairchild, is a member of Alpha Delta Pi, Kappa chapter, at Samford University in Homewood, Alabama!
