Happy 125th Founder’s Day, Alpha Xi Delta! While today is your founding date, we know you celebrate your heritage all year long! For those who do not know about Alpha Xi Delta, we put together some history and info behind this awesome organization so you can see how great they are!
Alpha Xi Delta was founded on April 17th, 1893, at Lombard College in Galesburg, Illinois by ten like-minded women. These women were visionaries who “Wanted to form a local sorority to encourage personal friendships, promote friendlier contacts with the entire student body, and be of active service to the college.”
With the help of Sigma Nu fraternity, the dreams of these women became a reality! Alpha Xi Delta, was one of ten founding organizations that established the National Panhellenic Conference. Today, Alpha Xi Delta has over 130 active chapters with over 175,000 initiated members! The symbols of this sorority are the BetaXi Bear, pink roses, and the quill. Their colors are yellow & blue and their motto is “The Pen Is Mightier Than The Sword.” Autism Speaks is their national philanthropy, and they have proudly raised over $7,000,000 for this incredible organization.
